The year commences with a series of ‘graffiti’ paintings, which anticipate the decisive experiences that are to attend Mazzucconi: the loss of his mother and encounter with Brigitte.
The latter terminates the harmony that had characterised the rational, professional and familiar equilibrium of the artist and catapults him into the obscure and vibrant contact with Eros. The world of clear geometry gives into the urgency for instinctive pulsations; Apollo makes way to Dionysus. In that same moment, the journey into female psychology, which will always maintain its course parallel to Mazzucconi’s journey into the inner self, commences. It is no coincidence: the woman is the guide in this quest, or rather our female side is. Experiencing love leads to identifying it with our woman, seeing in her the very personification of the soul.
