This is the way, that we have in other paintings of Mazzucconi,
in which the artist expresses his love for a woman by means of the representation
of the Creator who gives her life. And yet, we are told that this painting
shows an additional mildness and devotion on behalf of the female figure;

She could only have been a woman in the arms of her true love, by day or by night, but perhaps her man was the Self who, in unconscious obscurity, attended the awakening of the sol of he beloved. When this takes place, she is astonished to discover that she is an angel. |
