The Self that emerges (The Dawn)
1982
140 x 90, oil on canvas
While part of ourselves shipwrecks in life's scum, another part tries to emerge and is about cut water's surface, like the sun at twilight time, in the spirit's sky.

The Soul and the Ego
1982
140 x 90, oil on canvas
In life's obscure navigation, with a body made of fragile wood, the soul is similar to a female while the masculine principle is to be found at prow: it is the ego, or perhaps a superior force, also, capable of guiding him through. It would appear that it be only one figure whose bosom has two breasts: one loving and sweet, the other closed and cold like a sphere of steel.

Quadratus
1982
100 x 60, oil on canvas
"Quadratus" is, according to Jung, one of Mercury's names; the one to indicate his characteristic multiplicity, which leads him to overlap the wholeness, of which the number four is a symbol. Mercury, with his winged helmet, is a silhouette that constantly appears in many of Mazzucconi's works, like the signature or sign of the presence of the inner genius or, if you prefer, the "Self".
