1980-1986 Vittorio Mazzucconi's paintings, with the Artist's comments |
(3/16) |
The Recollection 1980.03 100 x 80, oil on canvas |
The image of a lost maiden has become, in the recollection, as empty, as, alas, a fragile shell which has broken; an unrealistic creature, made out of dreams and mystery. Click detail |
The Spring 1980.08 70 x 80, oil on canvas |
A nearby fountain suggested an image for the
spring: the head of the young lady, who draws water from it, becomes an
ewer (broken since, we must not forget this, it represents a broken love),
and an arm the spring’s water spout. This is typical of Mazzucconi: to blend all aspects together, be it in painting or architecture, in a totalling approach. See other examples: The Artist 1989.01 Cultural Centre St-Germain-en-Laye |
