The square is brought back to its right proportions, reducing its length as, in a different form, it was intended in the original Mengoni’s project.
Its history is evoked: not only with the shape and the apse of the ancient St.Tecla basilica, but also with the layout of some ancient streets, that were alive since Roman times until the 19th century..
Two little squares at the MM (underground) level are proposed.
And, furthermore, we put forward the idea of a new and extraordinary building, the Cathedral Ark, a symbol of Milan in the second millennium..

The project of the new square:
  1. the Cathedral
  2. the Galleria
  3. the existing paving of the square
  4. the new Ark, with a small open air theatre on its top, oriented towards the Cathedral facade
  5. a stretch of water matching the St. Tecla basilica outline
  6. the plaza at a lower level
  7. the archaeological area
  8. the layout of some ancient streets
