Metamorphosis 1989.06 120 x 90, oil on canvas The soul is transformed. The Self
wraps it round with enfolding wings, its celestial raiment. The light
of the Lord shines on, and through it, and quickens the life in its breast,
like the spiral of a new creation. This too is an Annunciation. |
Nativity of Our Lord 1989.07 190 x 126, oil on canvas In the same way that light stands out in the night (the mother’s breast is in itself a daybreak), so from the earth’s soul emerges the divine being, which is its son. ‘Nativity’: this is the name chosen for this swarming and cosmic truth. Not a small child among the shepherds, as we had thought, but a powerful god is born, like a sun which shines once again. Click detail |
