The Recollection
1980.03
100 x 80, oil on canvas
The image of a lost maiden has
become, in the recollection, as empty, as, alas, a fragile shell which has broken; an unrealistic creature, made out of dreams and mystery.

The Spring
1980.08
70 x 80, oil on canvas
A nearby fountain suggested an image for the spring: the head of the young lady, who draws water from it, becomes an ewer (broken since, we must not forget this, it represents a broken love), and an arm the spring’s water spout.
This is typical of Mazzucconi: to
blend all aspects together, be it in painting or architecture, in a totalling approach.

Sophia (Kundalini)
1980.08.10
100 x 80, oil on canvas
Is the sorrowful soul on the way to wisdom? The rhythmic design of her curls, as well as the one of her tears, seems to show the patterns of a secret path… The breath of the Spirit permeates her. Above and beyond the painful wound, the Self stands as a witness and an ideal fulfilment.
