A friend had come to my studio and I had made some preparatory sketches for her portrait. Yet, when I set out to start my painting, my beloved and abandoned young lady appeared in her place, along with all her sorrow; along with the sorrow of my own soul.



Orpheus and Eurydice

The dying down of a love (or that which takes place after this has happened) can be similar to a journey to the Realm of the Dead sustained by Orpheus, in the search of his perished Eurydice. While Eurydice, as soon as Orpheus round, is confused. So she steps back and dissolves into a ghost...
